This talk begins with some basic Irish history to help the researcher understand why our Irish ancestors made the choices they did and why it is so hard to research in Ireland. It is not, however, impossible if you know what records are available and where to find them. The researcher needs to know what record groups exist and which ones don’t exist. Knowledge of Irish record groups and their availability will help guide the researcher in this country. After this talk, the student will be familiar with the many records that are available for the researcher.
