FamilySearch.org is one of the major genealogical research sites online, and using the site is free. It is run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who have been filming, then digitizing records from all over the world. It would be hard to imagine not finding something of use in your research on the FamilySearch website. FamilySearch has billions of images of digitized records, a search engine to help you find them, indexed records that can be searched before looking at the images, and a wiki to help you get more information about what is available within a location and why you may not be able to find the precise record you need due to a catastrophe at the courthouse or some other explanation. Once you discover the riches of genealogical information at FamilySearch, it is hard to imagine that it won’t be one of the frequently used tools in your toolbox.
